Surface protection From Wear
Wear is defined as “surface damage involving a progressive loss of material, due to relative motion between it and a contacting surface or substance. All contacting surfaces with relative movement are subject to wear. Normally the method of eliminating and reducing surface wear is to provide a film of lubricant between the surfaces. However the condition of the surface and especially its hardness has can be controlled to mitigate the negative effects of surface interactions.
